Thor, portrait of a boy growing up

Thor Kissing is a bright young boy with the Asperger syndrom. I happened to meet him and his parents in Ypenburg Den Haag in the summer of 2006, we decided to make a longer lasting photoproject about his growing up and dealing with life. All different situations in his daily life are photographed, also interviews and texts are used to make a book/exhibition out of it. The way we work together is very spontaneous; sometimes we make contact and I just drop by, or I’m invited at Santaclaus or some happening, sometimes I just take pictures of Thor gaming or playing soccer. We try to make a series as natural as possible, without a special goal to reach; it’s more finding out what it looks like to have this syndrom and grow up with it.
